DNA: Approvals in: Aamir Khan can now have his dream home

Actor Aamir Khan can now heave a sigh of relief. The BMC has approved his proposal concerning regularisation of amalgamation and internal changes in his flats in Marina building, located at Pali Hill.

He even submitted a letter from IIT Bombay professors, stating that his work won’t affect the structural safety of the building, which worked wonders. Last year, a stop work notice was issued by the BMC against the work, which included an internal staircase. However, sources in BMC claimed that the actor has given up the idea of a staircase. He had approached the BMC via his architect for regularisation for which the BMC has decided to charge him a penalty and approve his proposal.

The last letter in this regard is dated August 6, 2018, which read, ‘as per deputy Chief Engineer (Building Proposal) approval dated July 4, 2018, the subject proposal is approved as proposed and is signed by Executive Engineer Sanjay K of BMC. According to documents available with this newspaper, in June 2018, Amit Sapre, the architect of actor Aamir Khan, submitted the BMC a letter dated May 21, 2018, issued by IIT Bombay, addressed to Aamir Khan, wherein Prof S Banerjee and Prof RS Jangid said: “The proposed alteration in the above flats will not affected overall structural safety and stability of the building and hence recommended for carrying out.”

When contacted, Prof Banerjee said, “Yes, we did the audit for Aamir Khan and found that the architectural work he’s carrying out won’t impact the stability of the building.”
